The Royal Family at Windsor

Windsor Castle is an official residence of The Queen & Royal Family. It has been a Royal home for over 900 years.

The site was originally selected by William the Conqueror. He picked the location as it was high above the Thames and on the edge of a Saxon hunting ground.

Over the years, various monarchs have made changes and modifications to the castle, but it remains a working palace to this day with the Queen and other members of the Royal Family visiting on a regular basis.

The Royal Wedding

Windsor was also host to the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla, Dutchess of Cornwall in 2005 when the couple married in a civil ceremony at Windsor's Guildhall.

Other Royal Residences

Another royal residence often used by the family is Sandringham, situated close to King's Lynn in Norfolk.
